Danny Lloyd was from Morton, Illinois, about 30 miles from where I live. As I recall, he was selected in a nation-wide 'talent search' Kubrick initiated to find a child for the role. The local paper ran an article on Danny several years ago, when he was a senior in high school at Morton. If I recall the article correctly, he didn't do any other acting after The Shining, and at the time of the article was pretty much devoting himself to being a 'normal' high school student. He seemed pretty level-headed in the article, and didn't seem to feel that his experience made him in any way 'unique'. He admitted to being so young at the time that he didn't really remember the experience well. It may be the case, though I wouldn't swear to this, that he claimed to have never seen the movie. I haven't heard what he's done since then.

I happen to be from Pekin, IL, which is a 10 minute drive from Morton. Last I heard he worked at Walmart in Pekin. One of my friends worked there with him but hasn't said much except that he's a nice guy. That was about 2 and a half years ago and I haven't heard anything since.
